Went up the the yard to bring Hayley in she was stood be herself in the field (not like her) put her headcollar on to bring her in and she was reluctant to walk forward, when she started walking she was moderately lame on her hind left, Once in from the field and unrugged I could see the extent of the injury.
Decided due to the depth of the cuts, how lame she was (even though only moderate this is severe for Hayley!) and where the injury was to call the vet out straight away.
When the vet came she had to sedate Hayley as she was in a lot of pain as wouldn't keep still to have it inspected. The picture on the left shows the worst cut which the vet had 2 fingers inside and was pulling out small fragments of bone, she decided we needed to take her straight down for an X-ray to confirm the extent of the damage.
The X-rays confirmed a hair line fracture to the front of her left hind tibia.
So barely 2 weeks since coming off box rest we were back to square one!! =(
